I’m Angry

It’s a monstrosity. The child was supposedly on “life support”. They turned off the ventilator and HE KEPT BREATHING. This is when they should have medically re-evaluated the child. Instead they withheld food and water and essentially STARVED THE CHILD TO DEATH.

If I have the basic facts wrong, please feel free to correct me, but I think this is a fair summary of the events.

It appears this week the UK has decided that post birth abortions are fine as long as it’s “in the best interest of the child”. Starving a child to death is in his best interest? How soulless. How grotesque. How banal. How evil.

The tweet that I’ve used as the image for this post shows the rather Big Brother feel the UK police are bringing to this tragedy.

We’ve Ignored Truth

One of the earliest Christian books, outside of the New Testament texts, was the Didache. It is essentially a distillation of biblical teachings.

Chapter Five:

• 1. But the Way of Death is this: First of all, it is wicked and full of cursing, murders, adulteries, lusts, fornications, thefts, idolatries, witchcrafts, charms, robberies, false witness, hypocrisies, a double heart, fraud, pride, malice, stubbornness, covetousness, foul speech, jealousy, impudence, haughtiness, boastfulness.
• 2. Persecutors of the good, haters of truth, lovers of lies, knowing not the reward of righteousness, not cleaving to the good nor to righteous judgment, spending wakeful nights not for good but for wickedness, from whom meekness and patience is far, lovers of vanity, following after reward, unmerciful to the poor, not working for him who is oppressed with toil, without knowledge of him who made them, murderers of children, corrupters of God’s creatures, turning away the needy, oppressing the distressed, advocates of the rich, unjust judges of the poor, altogether sinful; may ye be delivered, my children, from all these. (italics mine)

What we are seeing is the fruits of the tree of death. Legalizing abortion led to this. Rejecting centuries of Western Civilization led to this. Rejecting inspired biblical truth led to this. England has spit in the face of her Creator and Redeemer.

And don’t go saying it can’t happen in the United States: Theresa Marie Schiavo. A feeding tube was compared to life support. Well, if you stop giving anybody food and water, death occurs within about 72 hours.

What Next?

Christians must pray. We should be on our knees weeping in confession to a Holy God. We must pray for our enemies. According to Life Site the Roman Catholic priest who had been ministering to the family was banned from the room when he reminded staff that God was watching.

Whatever we do next should be in love and with compassion. We should expect rejection and possibly persecution. Marginalization is already underway. You will need deep spiritual practices that go beyond reading your bible.
