Back to work today for the first time in a week. No studying. Some days keeping the actual job under control is the work — because without that, there’s no mental space for the studies either.
The first course I took at Cranmer Theological House was Cure of Souls. It covers ministry in the abstract — individual, corporate, pastoral care, marriage. What it can’t fully prepare you for is the weight of it in the particular. That’s what formation is for, I suppose. You learn the theology in the classroom and the reality finds you on a Monday.
