No studying today. Five hours of overtime this morning supervising those who chose to work. Spent the afternoon with my wife of 33 years — we’ve found a Guatemalan restaurant twenty minutes from us, and she was able to pick up some of her favorite snacks. Tomorrow we celebrate our daughter’s 25th birthday with family.
Still chewing on yesterday’s material though. The marital covenant framework for salvation keeps getting richer the longer I sit with it. A King pursuing a bride, shedding his own innocent blood to cover her impurity. That’s a different texture than the courtroom. Both are true. But one of them makes you want to weep.
And then the image of water applied to an object altering its very properties — hot steel plunged into water. The water doesn’t merely wash the surface. It changes what the thing is. That’s baptism.
Tomorrow: the last video, God willing, before the birthday celebration.
